Wiseup is thrilled to share that With Intelligence’s latest Pathfinder Programme is now live!
Supporting 16 second and third year students from Queen Mary University of London as they enhance their employability skills, confidence and experience in a workplace setting, yesterday’s launch event was an exciting new chapter in our partnership together.
Giving students structured mentoring and direct access to professionals working in industry aims to help ensure that talented young people have the opportunity to develop the knowledge, networks and confidence they need to succeed in their future careers.
For the students involved, this experience comes at a crucial moment in their academic journey. As second and third year university students begin thinking seriously about internships, graduate schemes and the transition into professional life, gaining exposure to a real workplace environment can make a significant difference.
Through the Pathfinder Programme, they will have the opportunity to build their understanding of professional environments and develop the skills and self-belief needed to navigate the early stages of their careers.

With Intelligence’s Programme
This year, the programme will support a new cohort of second and third-year students from Queen Mary University of London, helping them gain valuable insight into the professional world as they prepare to take the next steps in their careers.
Building on the success of last year’s programme, this year’s partnership will combine structured mentoring with hands-on workplace experience, ensuring students gain both practical knowledge and the confidence to pursue careers in competitive industries.
The programme is designed to give students a well-rounded understanding of what working life can look like within a professional organisation. Through conversations with mentors, workplace exposure and career discussions, students will gain insight into the different roles and pathways available within the industry, many of which they may not have previously considered.
Mentoring also provides a valuable opportunity for students to ask honest questions about careers, professional development and the realities of the workplace, through contacts they may otherwise not have had.
For many students on our programmes coming from less affluent backgrounds, having direct access to experienced professionals who can share their journeys, advice and lessons is empowering and can play an instrumental role in helping them in their future careers.
At the same time, the programme allows mentors from With Intelligence to play a direct role in supporting the next generation of professionals, sharing their expertise and experiences to help students better understand the opportunities available to them, whilst contributing to their own professional development.

Kicking things off
Yesterday’s mentor training workshop brought together volunteers from With Intelligence to prepare them for their role in supporting the students throughout the programme.
The session, run by a Wiseup Mentor Trainer focused on helping mentors feel confident and equipped to guide their mentees, exploring what effective mentoring looks like and how to build strong, supportive relationships with students. The workshop also covered how mentors can encourage meaningful conversations around career exploration, professional development and workplace expectations, whilst covering key elements like session structure, exercises and safeguarding.
The 16 students from QMUL will soon be matched with mentors from With Intelligence based on several key factors, including job title, interests and professional experience. Careful matching is an important part of the programme, helping to ensure that each mentoring pair can build a strong connection and that students are able to gain insight into areas of work that align with their own aspirations and interests.

Next stages
Following the mentor training, the mentoring pairs will soon meet for their first mentoring sessions in person at the university. These early meetings are designed to help mentors and mentees get to know each other and establish trust through discussing interests, goals and aspirations.
Over the coming months, each pair will take part in a further 5 mentoring sessions, surrounding a With Intelligence work placement.
We hope that this programme helps to demystify an industry that can sometimes feel difficult to access, whilst also providing students with guidance as they begin shaping their own career ambitions over the coming weeks and years.
We are confident that the combination of mentoring conversations and workplace experience will help students build both practical insight and the confidence needed to take their next steps into the professional world.
We couldn’t be happier to be on this journey together with With Intelligence again, and look forward to sharing programme updates over the coming weeks & months!
