What is the London Careers Challenge?

Give young people a better experience of the world of work


Our London Careers Challenge makes it easier for businesses to give young people meaningful experience of the world of work.

Choose from a range of ready-to-use activities and deliver one to students at the Harris Federation - one of the largest education groups in London and Essex.

Harris currently runs 55 primary and secondary academies, educating around 44,000–45,000 young people across London and Essex. Many of its academies are located in communities facing significant socio-economic disadvantage, making access to high-quality careers and workplace opportunities particularly important.

Wiseup provides everything you need to get involved, free of charge. And if you’d rather, we can organise and manage the experience for you.

Ways to get involved

London Careers Challenge 2
Industry Talk
Provide a thorough, engaging and interactive career talk and panel for students to better understand a day in the life of a professional in your industry. Around 1–2 hours hours comittment.

Skills Workshop
Build students’ practical skills through an interactive session focused on a specific skill, role or area of expertise. Around 1–2 hours commitment.

Office Visit
Give students a first-hand look at your workplace, people and culture, helping them understand what it’s like to work in your industry. Around 2–3 hours commitment.

Project Challenge
Set students a real-world challenge to solve collaboratively, encouraging them to apply their skills, think creatively and present their ideas. Around 2–4 hours commitment.

Work Experience Placement
Give students meaningful experience in the workplace through hands-on activities, exposure to different roles and insight into your industry. Typically 3–5 days commitment.
