I’ve been working in the creative marketing scene since leaving college in the 90’s. I was fortunate enough to be around when the Internet became a ‘thing’ to the world. I built my first website back in 1998 for an automotive data company based in London, swiftly moving to a top 10 agency to start and head up their web team. After several years working on some of the biggest websites in the UK including easyjet, TESCO, Lynx, V&A museum and many more I was headhunted to the role of Online Creative Director for Sony Music Europe, working with acts such as Oasis, Muse and Travis. It was a crazy time, everyone was jumping on the bandwagon of digital, throwing money at any young kid with a clever online idea. Some worked, most failed.
I then started my first company iMS with a couple of lads from my old agency, we ended up working with Virgin Records and a plethora of start ups, advising on brand, strategy, digital and exit. We ended up helping a ton of companies grow and sellout, making their owners very rich kids. Oh and during my time there I was also digital designer for Victoria Beckham, building the ‘tackiest website in Britain’ according to the front page of the Sun newspaper, for Beckingham Palace… Fun times.
After several years I decided to move back to the North West, I sold up and spent 6 m0nths trying to decide what todo with my life. I ended up consulting one of the biggest furniture brands in the UK on brand strategy and digital transformation, I swore I’d never have another agency, but the amount of work I got demanded I staffed up. 16 years later I am the CEO of Motionlab, one of the leading agencies in the North West, I also co own Motionlab Interactive, a very successful app business, with the worlds most downloaded darts game. Our games have been downloaded over 12 million times. We work with lots of companies from start ups to billion dollar global enterprises.
I spend a lot of time working with organisations across Lancashire on their mentoring schemes, helping new and small business owners avoid some of the pitfalls a new business can have. I do a lot of public speaking for UCLAN and for my own Business Club I run in the North West. And finally I have a passion for mentoring as I find huge joy in seeing companies I have helped grow and become successful.
