Celebrating Inverto’s Second Pathfinder Office Visit
Wiseup is proud to share that last week, seven Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) students attended Inverto’s London office for a curated taster of life in consulting, building on the mentoring they have undertaken throughout the Pathfinder Programme.
As part of the programme, the students will each complete a total of five mentoring sessions, with the format designed to give them a well-rounded understanding of the world of work and unprecedented access to their mentor’s professional expertise.
Throughout their mentoring sessions, students have explored a range of topics including consulting, procurement and supply chain, career development, CVs and applications, and case interview preparation. They have also undertaken exercises such as Ikigai, encouraging them to reflect on their strengths, interests and what they are looking for from their future careers.
Now in its second year, the continued partnership between Inverto, Wiseup and QMUL marks an exciting milestone in providing students with meaningful access to the professional world. This year’s cohort brings together students from a range of degree backgrounds, offering them the opportunity to explore consulting and the wider business world regardless of their academic pathway.
The mentors themselves have all brought a wealth of professional experience and insight to the programme, supporting students through regular 1-2-1 sessions and providing honest, practical guidance as they prepare to transition from university into their careers.
Prior to the office visit, the mentoring pairs underwent a series of sessions designed not only to prepare students for their time at Inverto, but to equip them with skills, knowledge and confidence that they can carry beyond university and into the early stages of their careers.
Bringing Mentoring to Life
The office visit provided an opportunity for students to put many of these conversations into context and experience the working environment at Inverto first-hand.
The day included a recruitment and CV session, practice interviews, a coffee chat with an Inverto colleague and a panel discussion featuring employees across different areas and levels of the business.
For the students, this offered valuable insight into the breadth of career paths available within consulting. Hearing from interns, consultants, Business Services colleagues and senior leadership demonstrated that there is no single route into the industry, with employees bringing a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds to their roles.
The day also gave students the chance to experience Inverto’s culture for themselves, with the welcoming and supportive environment coming through strongly in their conversations with employees.
Alongside practical recruitment advice, discussions explored the changing nature of consulting, including the growing role of AI, the importance of creativity and curiosity, and the value of approaching an interview as a two-way conversation — not simply an opportunity for a candidate to prove themselves, but to understand whether an organisation is the right fit for them.
