For the third consecutive year, Wiseup has partnered with Kantar for London Intern 25, a programme that offers mentoring and work experience opportunities to 16-18 year olds.
Growing year on year, Intern 25 welcomes over 50 students onto this year’s programme, with mentors from Kantar, IBM, Efficio, Hays, Chain IQ, Blackbullion, Kyndryl and Birlasoft volunteering their time to mentor students.
On today’s training day, Wiseup Expert Stephen Chandler hosted two workshops across the morning and afternoon at Kantar’s offices. Core subjects included:
The upcoming programme
Now that the mentors are prepared for their 1-2-1 sessions, over the coming weeks they’ll embark on the next stages of this programme.
London Intern 25 will feature four mentoring sessions in total, all taking place in person between March and September. The first mentoring sessions will take place at Kantars offices, and will focus around preparing the students for work experience. Common themes for these sessions involve understanding any concerns the student may have and providing guidance to put them at ease.
In May, the students are set to engage in a life-changing work experience week at their mentor’s offices. Shadowing, CV workshops, talks and other tasks have been specially designed to allow the students to thoroughly immerse themselves in what their professions could hold. They’ll also take part in two mentoring sessions during the work experience week, with one session geared towards ensuring they get the maximum experience in the office, and one with an emphasis on ensuring they achieve their desired outcomes as the week draws to a close.
The students will end their work experience week back at the Kantar offices, celebrating their achievements over food and drinks on the Friday afternoon.
The final sessions will take place following the summer holidays in September, where recaps and looking towards the future will ensure the students get all they require from this experience to make the programme truly worthwhile.
They’ll hopefully be in the best position to make informed decisions on the next stages of their careers as a result.
What’s next?
On Friday 14th March, over 50 students will converge at Kantar’s offices for the official launch of the first mentoring sessions. Kantar and Wiseup will deliver talks to the students, outlining what to expect from taking part in this exciting mentoring programme.
Following this, the mentees will be allocated their mentors and will break off to meet with their mentor’s company, to understand more about what they do. Finally, the pairs will disperse around Kantar’s open plan space to take part in their mentoring sessions.
We’re proud to partner with companies and individuals so dedicated to making a difference in young people's lives and are excited for the next stage of this journey. Bring on March 14th!
