Skills Talent Champion

We are delighted to announce that Wiseup Networks has taken home the GMCC Excellence Awards’ Skills & Talent Champion award! Last week’s award ceremony proved to be a pivotal moment for the team, as we were recognised for a brand new category and demonstrated our continued commitment to championing talent in Manchester.

We are extremely proud to be recognised for our dedication to nurturing talent and creating new skills development opportunities, validating years of hard work and continued evolution to get us to where we are today.

Three years in the making

From running a professional mentoring network, to working with students to help them gain invaluable experience, we’ve always aimed to support the development of skills and talent.

Since launching the Pathfinder Programme however, our ability to make a difference has been transformed.

In the last few years we have:

  • Delivered structured mentoring for 16-21 year old students to help them build soft and employability skills
  • Offered hands-on workplace experiences so learners can apply their learning in real settings
  • Hosted industry talks and workshops connecting students directly with business leaders

Our priorities have always been centred on workplace experiences, that not only help the student mentees, but also the staff members that mentor the students as well.

Through these initiatives, we’ve helped a broad range of job roles to support their mentees, from intern level employees through to C-Suite staff.

A massive thank you to Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce for this honour. We’re also tremendously grateful to all of our mentors, business partners and educational providers for making this possible.

Looking ahead, we’re excited to keep dismantling social barriers and making a difference both locally and nationally. We remain committed to ensuring that all young people have access to the workplace, no matter their circumstances.

Stay tuned for updates as we enter an exciting chapter for Wiseup; next up, we’ve got our Talent of Tomorrow Event happening on Saturday 18th October. And next month, we’ve been shortlisted for the National SME Awards in two categories – the Enterprising Business and Positive Impact Award.

Wish us luck!
