Last week marked a major milestone for the team at NES Fircroft and their students from Trafford and Stockport College Group, as they completed a fantastic work experience week.
Thanks to the input, time and energy from the volunteers at NES Fircroft, the students experienced a vibrant and engaging work experience week at their Manchester offices. Read on to learn more about how the students got on.
NES Fircroft’s Work Experience Week
Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to gain a genuine insight into life at NES Fircroft. One of the highlights was spending time alongside the sales team, where they were able to sit in on live calls and observe how client relationships are built and maintained in a fast-paced, global recruitment environment. This direct exposure helped bring classroom learning to life, offering a clearer understanding of how communication, negotiation, and commercial awareness come together in practice.
Alongside this, students carried out independent research into NES Fircroft, exploring the company’s global presence, industry sectors, and the role it plays in connecting specialist talent with critical infrastructure projects around the world. This task encouraged them to think critically about the business and develop a stronger understanding of how organisations position themselves within competitive international markets.
As the week progressed, students also had the chance to broaden their experience beyond sales by exploring other departments, including marketing. Here, they gained insight into how the company presents itself to clients and candidates, and how marketing teams support business growth through branding, campaigns, and digital engagement.
A key part of the programme culminated in final presentations, where students reflected on their experiences and shared what they had learned throughout the week. They spoke about how their understanding of the workplace had developed, what they had enjoyed most, and how the experience had influenced their thinking about future career paths.
In addition, students were encouraged to evaluate their own strengths and areas for development. This reflective exercise helped them build self-awareness and identify skills they could continue to develop, from communication and teamwork to confidence in professional settings.
Overall, the week was a clear success, providing students with meaningful exposure to a global business and equipping them with a stronger understanding of both their own capabilities and the wide range of career opportunities available to them.
Thank you to all those at NES Fircroft for making it so special, and a huge well done to all of the students for bringing your enthusiasm and passion to this year’s programme!
