It’s been a standout couple of weeks for Wiseup, with three significant milestones highlighting the growing recognition of our work: invitations to speak at a roundtable and a panel, as well as a mention at the House of Commons.

We’re proud to champion these moments, as they show our progress along with the ever-increasing importance of creating meaningful opportunities for young people across the UK.

Wiseup milestones 1

Contributing to the Climate Tech Conversation

Wiseup Co-Founder – Graham Wood was invited to speak at Greater Manchester Chamber’s roundtable discussion, hosted by Barclays, focused on scaling climate tech in the UK.

The session brought together leaders from across sectors to explore strategies for overcoming key barriers to innovation and accelerating the growth of sustainable solutions. With extensive experience spanning nearly 40 years in negotiating contracts, Graham’s expertise in sustainability brought a wealth of ideas and insights to the roundtable, and Wiseup’s involvement in this conversation reflects our commitment to supporting future-focused industries while ensuring young people are part of that journey.

CMI Social Mobility Panel

Championing Social Mobility in Leadership

Joe Wood also joined a panel hosted by the Chartered Management Institute, discussing how leaders can play a more active role in accelerating social mobility.

The discussion centred on the responsibility businesses have to create accessible pathways into employment, a concept extremely close to Wiseup’s heart. Joe’s input included the overwhelming tasks the education sector has in sourcing work experience for their students and dismantling barriers in place for young people.

Wiseup Connor Rand

Recognised in Parliament

In an overwhelmingly proud moment for the team, Wiseup’s work was raised in Parliament by Altrincham and Sale West MP, Connor Rand, during a debate on support for young people facing barriers to employment.

To see our mission acknowledged on a national stage is a powerful reminder of the impact these programmes can have, particularly for those who need them most.

An exciting outcome of this important conversation was an agreement from the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions – Pat McFadden to build on the conversation to these programmes across the wider UK.

Looking forward

Taken together, these milestones demonstrate the increasing momentum behind the conversations Wiseup is driving.

As always, bridging the gap between education and the workplace and ensuring opportunity is not limited by background is the central premise for all we do. We are incredibly grateful to the partners, organisations, and individuals who continue to support and champion our work.
