Wiseup is extremely proud to announce that we had the honour of winning the People and Community Award at GMCC’s Excellence Awards last week. The event, held at Manchester’s Albert Hall brought together some of the region's finest businesses for a celebration of achievements. It is truly an honour to be recognised for our hard work and social impact, and we couldn’t have done this without all our wonderful business partners.

Wiseup is proud to announce that last week we hosted eight industry talks in tandem with some fantastic Manchester businesses, aimed at inspiring the next generation of talent. This engaging event took place on the 26th of June at The Manchester College’s Openshaw Campus and involved eight different speakers delivering invaluable insights to over 100 T Level students. The event featured a diverse range of companies from Manchester, offering students a rare opportunity to glean real-world insights from leading industry professionals. The talks were delivered to T Level students from various fields, including digital, business, engineering, construction, automotive, applied science, and health and social care.

After six months in the making, and with nearly double the cohort, we are thrilled to announce that Intern 24’s work experience week has been a success! For this innovative programme, 40 aspiring 16-17 year old sixth form students from South Bank University Academy, Sedgehill Academy and St John’s Baptist School were paired with mentors from Kantar, Efficio, Blackbullion, IBM, Chain IQ and Hays back in March, ahead of the work experience week in May.

Last week, Wiseup joined Kantar, IBM, Efficio, Hays, Blackbullion and Chain IQ at Kantar’s offices for the launch of London Intern 24 – a programme that combines mentoring and work experience. This special event involved 40 students from several London schools, as they gathered to meet their mentors for the first time.

In an era where socially responsible business practices are gaining momentum and businesses are increasingly being evaluated not just on their profit margins, but also on their positive impact on society, we are thrilled to announce that Wiseup has been honoured with the Silver Award in the Positive Impact category at the prestigious London Chamber SME London Business Awards. The awards ceremony, held at London's Park Plaza Riverbank, united more than 100 dynamic SMEs from a range of sectors and backgrounds for a night of celebration and recognition of achievements.

In 2024 and beyond, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives are set to form the foundational pillars of a thriving, cohesive, and innovative society that benefits all. As we begin a fresh new year, we predict that businesses in the UK will continue to prioritise DEI initiatives. With this positive step forward and with each initiative seeking to empower communities across the UK, we’ll see the UK’s progressive landscape foster both unity and empowerment.
